As a board we have all come together to help keep pets in their homes by creating a pet food shelf and a fund for emergency veterinary bills for pet owners so that we can reduce the number of pets abandoned or surrendered. We believe in keeping families together. Jan Ellis-Clements Executive Director, Grant Writer Ph,D Owner of: Sunglow Literacy Consulting Jan has worked in public and private schools teaching students with learning disabilities as a special educator and reading specialist for over thirty years years. She has spoken nationally regarding language and learning disabilities for years at conferences. S Sierra Ellis-Clements Bachelor’s Degree Majors: Forensics Psychology, Criminal Justice Minor: Sociology Sierra has been involved with her family in foster parenting young feline mothers and their kittens as well as other rescue work with animals. Her work in understanding the connection with abuse survivors and their need for animals for support as well as seniors who need the social connection with their animals to alleviate isolation and loneliness have been invaluable as she has worked tirelessly to support Lucy's House. Byron Garcia Bachelor of Science Degree Sterling College Concentration: Environmental Ecology, Conservation, Sustainability Byron has volunteered his time at Lucy's House at tabling events and in working to support stronger outcomes for animals and their pet owners. He is actively involved in environmental causes and sustainability. He currently teaches wilderness survival skills. Shina Ellis-Garcia B.S.Wildlife and Fisheries UVM Vet Tech Program enrolled Shina has volunteered her time by working at our tables for pet food drives and in distributing pet food in the community. She has long been a supporter of animal rescue and has helped her family foster parent many young feline mothers and their babies.Her degree in wildlife and fisheries makes her an incredible asset to the board as she has been involved in bat counting and work with sea turtles. Her empathy for animals and understanding of the needs in our community are outstanding. Anne Ellis Bachelor’s Degree Anne has worked for a nonprofit agency and has a degree in math. She has over twenty years experience in fund raising and budgeting for organizations. She has also been involved in animal rescue and helping foster parent animals. |
